The Opportunity

Are you passionate about building resilient security infrastructure through smart engineering? Do you want to progress from analysis to designing and implementing security solutions?

We are looking for a Cyber Security Operations Engineer who is technically proficient, solutions-focused, and curious about automation and AI, someone who can implement controls while working collaboratively across teams.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced analyst ready to step up to an engineering role, someone who thrives on building technical solutions and exploring how automation can transform operations.

At Liberty, technology is central to our business, and we are accelerating our use of automation and AI to drive innovation. You will work with our managed service provider who handles initial monitoring and triage, while you focus on engineering infrastructure, responding to escalated incidents, conducting threat hunting, and driving continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Implementing and optimising controls across identity management, email security, endpoint protection, cloud security, and network defence.
  • Responding to escalated incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Investigating and using automation and AI to streamline processes, improve detection, and enhance response efficiency.
  • Conducting proactive threat hunting to identify undetected threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Managing vulnerability assessments and testing, determining pragmatic solutions for mitigation.
  • Integrating and optimising tooling to ensure effective detection, response, and prevention.
  • Building effective relationships with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external providers.
  • Maintaining and enhancing infrastructure to ensure defences perform as required.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through innovation.
  • Staying current with emerging threats, attack methods, and technologies.

Enough about us, lets talk about you

  • You bring solid experience and are ready to step up from analyst to engineer.
  • You have hands-on skills with the ability to implement controls, integrate tools, and build solutions.
  • You are solutions-focused and engineering-minded, preferring to build and optimise rather than monitor alerts.
  • You are curious about automation and AI and interested in exploring how these can solve challenges at scale.
  • You are comfortable with escalated incidents and complex investigations.
  • You are collaborative and enjoy working with technical teams and managed providers.
  • You possess hands-on experience with Microsoft security tools including Microsoft 365 Security, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and Azure services.
  • You have experience with tools such as ZScaler, Azure WAF, Azure DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code approaches like Terraform.
  • You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Security Certifications (SC-100, SC-200, SC-300, SC-400, SC-900), CISSP, or CISA would be valued but are not mandatory.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries would be valued but is not mandatory.
